On Saturday, August 19, 2006, at 11:00 a.m., The Colony Theater, in conjunction with Two Cranes Press, will host the debut of the short movie Shriek, written by World Fantasy Award winner Jeff VanderMeer. The movie features an original soundtrack by legendary art-rock band The Church. Local writers and publishers Jason Erik Lundberg and Janet Chui will MC the event, and local artist Scott Eagle will made a special appearance. Refreshments, door prizes (including Ambergris beer), and freebies from Cooking Vinyl (The Church's label) and Tor Books (VanderMeer's publisher) will be available. Quail Ridge Books will have copies of Shriek: An Afterword for sale at the event. Admission is free.
