I just turned on my mobile (it was off all today, since it was the second day of the Chenrezig retreat), and discovered I'd received the most bizarre SMS message. I almost deleted it, thinking it was spam (the sender number was unknown, and I can't even access the internet on my phone), but something about it caught my eye. Anybody else seen this?

FROM: potemkin@[redacted]
SUB: there is but one will, though the paths are many

I realize that, in this age of automated spam agents and artificial
scripting that it is difficult to discern human intent--and human
need--behind an anonymous sms, but I reach out to you in a desperate
hope that you will consider the possibility that I exist.

My Mosaic still lives. TH3y cannot stop it. Not as long as we believe.

Sounds like the clue down a rabbit hole for an ARG.

I have. My friend [info]mattkressel said that some hacker got onto one of his work servers and sent people in the company that message. He talks about it here. perhaps it is some new form of viral marketing. Or maybe they're hoping people will post it to their blogs saying WTF? and then it raises their googleRank :)

Possibly. The mystery continues.

Jeff V posted about this on his journal, too.

It's a link to the collected "Oneiromantic Moscaic of Harry Potemkin."

They're lucky they got you, though. This sort of reach-out usually has a low level of success, even with an interesting message like that.

Oh. Interesting.
